The Story Behind Everyday Direct
Everyday Direct started long before the website itself existed.
It began in October 2004, when I took over Newtown Stores in Stourport-on-Severn at the age of 24.
Like many small business owners starting out, the early years required an incredible amount of hard work. For the first five years I regularly worked around 100 hours a week, learning everything I could about the business, our customers, and the community we serve.
But those long hours were not just about running a shop. They were about understanding people.
I spent that time getting to know customers, chatting with them daily, learning what they liked, what they needed, and how we could improve the store to serve the neighbourhood better.
Retail has never just been about selling products to me. I genuinely enjoy seeing customers every day and being part of the local community.
Investing Back Into The Store
After five years of hard work, I decided to reinvest most of what the store had earned back into the business.
We extended the shop to more than double its original size and completely refurbished the store.
This allowed us to significantly expand our range and offer more products to our customers. The response from the community was fantastic and it allowed us to cater to local needs much better.
Helping Customers Quit Smoking
Over time, another opportunity appeared.
Many of our older customers were trying to give up smoking but had struggled with other alternatives.
Rather than simply stocking vaping products, I took the time to train myself and my team properly so we could help customers find solutions that actually worked for them.
For us it was never just about selling a product. It was about helping people make a change that could genuinely improve their lives.
As the vape range grew, we reached a point where we physically could not display everything in store.

The Growth Of VapesDirect
What started as a simple way for customers to browse our vape range quickly grew into something much bigger.
VapesDirect expanded rapidly and today we serve over 30,000 customers across the UK, shipping products nationally every day.
The success of that website showed us just how powerful online shopping could be when combined with good customer service.
Bringing The Same Convenience To Our Store
After growing the online side of the business, I wanted to bring that same convenience back to the place where it all began.
That is how Everyday Direct was created.
We explored several third party delivery platforms, but the pricing models often meant online prices would have to be higher than the prices in store.
That never felt right.
I have always believed customers should receive the same fair prices whether they shop in store or online.
Why We Chose Click & Collect
For that reason, Everyday Direct launched as a Click & Collect service.
Customers can now shop online and pay the same prices they would pay in store, without the inflated costs that sometimes come with delivery platforms.
As the service grows, our goal is to eventually introduce local home delivery with our own driver, allowing us to keep control over service and pricing.
Over 20 Years Serving Our Community
From October 2004 to today in March 2026, I have dedicated a large part of my life to this store and the neighbourhood around it.
The support we have received from our customers over the years has been incredible.
Everyday Direct is simply the next step in that journey.
